Introduction About the Kiosks About DKV

The Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Educational Center is the only place of its kind in the world, where citizens and scholars alike can come to learn about the lives and work of two important social leaders of the twentieth century, Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz.

The memorial is located in the Audubon Ballroom, a building where Malcolm X and his political group, the Organization of Afro-American Unity, held some of their most important public events, and where Malcolm X was assassinated on February 21, 1965.

Columbia University, in conjunction with the Economic Development Council of New York City, has contributed to and built the content for the memorial, which is presented in three multimedia kiosks. View kiosk screenshots.

The memorial is designed by the architectural firm of Davis Brody Bond.
